About the Artist:
My name is Janet Skinner.  I am a painter and work primarily in watercolor and oil.  Color and composition are what I emphasize when representing any image.  My current series focuses on passages from the botanical world.  In my examinations, I find limitless opportunities to share both moments of excitement and quiet solitude.  Curvilinear compositions may expose the subtle color shift in a shadowed area beneath a large hosta leaf.  Other pieces may capture a sun-drenched symphony of color exploding on a blossom or fruit.  Most of these works are representational (realistic.)  However, my goal is to push realistic segments toward abstraction thus, prompting the viewer to look at the subject in an unexpected way.
